Is Pink Powerful?
Is Pink Powerful?
This Sunday night, at The 91st Annual Academy Awards, one hue most certainly reigned supreme: pink in all its glorious forms.
This is all quite the departure from the neutral palette we've seen over the last few years on the red carpet in general, including the all-black looks in solidarity with Time's Up in 2018. Now, this certainly doesn't mean it's the end of #MeToo on the red carpet, because there's still much work to be done in the industry. But perhaps the sea of pink is a way to honor just some of the small victories (like a more diverse group of nominees) after a year of fighting for an inclusive Hollywood.
All these outfits are incredibly unique, everyone did pink in their own way, but they’re bonded inextricably by their attention-grabbing hues.
Which pink look was your favorite? Do you find it powerful too, or a bit too sweet?
Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet are well-known for their kooky style and cavalier red carpet looks.
The couple looking amazing in complimentary Fendi outfits, with the Aquaman star donning a pink velvet suit and his wife a coordinating gown.
The Hawaiian actor had his entire outfit outfit (including the scrunchie) designed personally by the iconic Karl Lagerfeld, the legendary creative director for Chanel and Fendi who died on Feb. 19 at 85 in Paris.
Crazy Rich Asians star, Gemma Chan, looked absolutely stunning in a Valentino gown that, literally, had Celine Dion weeping when it first graced the runway at the brand’s couture show in January.
Sarah Paulson rocked an incredible fuchsia gown from Brandon Maxwell’s Autumn 2019 collection. With cut-out detailing at the stomach and accessories with plenty of Harry Winston bling, Paulson’s puffy pink look was anything but prissy.
Country Music sensation, Kacey Musgraves, opted for a paler pink hue in a tiered Giambattista Valli gown that proved a baby pink tulle can be cool.
Angela Bassett, the Black Panther Queen, looked absolutely regal in a one-shoulder, vibrant pink Reem Acra gown.
Bassett's 2019 Oscars look was completed with shoes from Casadei, a Judith Leiber bedazzled gem-shaped clutch, Sutra gems and her hair pulled back in a curly pony tail.
Julia Roberts is Hollywood royalty, so it’s only natural that she would close out Sunday night's Oscars ceremony. Presenting for Best Picture, the actress served up a grand fashion finale that was worth the wait.
On stage, Roberts wore a flowy-but-fitted bright pink dress by Elie Saab.
Interestingly, she chose to skip the red carpet this year. Perhaps a strategic move to build up momentum for her look?
Linda Cardellini stepped out on the red carpet to support Best Picture-nominated film Green Book on Sunday night.
She wore a bright pink Schiaparelli Spring 2019 Couture dress.
The hot pink chiffon high-low hem gown with a light pink bow certainly caught everyone’s attention, what do you think of this bold look?
KiKi Layne Looked gorgeous for her first Oscars Red Carpet!
The "If Beale Street Could Talk" star, is wearing a custom-made Atelier Versace gown, Stuart Weitzman shoes, and Atelier Swarovski Fine Jewelry.
Marie Kondo certainly sparked joy in this dazzling Jenny Packham dress.
