Should Women Be Forced to Wear Heels? 🤔👠Kristen Stewart Walks the Red Carpet Barefoot in Protest!

In 2015, the Cannes Film Festival made it mandatory for all female guests to wear high heels, outlawing flats. And they weren’t kidding. Many women were turned away at screenings for wearing flats, even some at their own film’s screening, most notably a group of women barred from a showing of “Carol.”

In the years since, actresses have had exceedingly pointed responses on the flats-ban, and Kristen Stewart has taken it to new heights. She arrived at the red carpet for Monday night’s “Blackkklansman” screening in a pair of black Christian Louboutin heels, then proceeded to kick off her stilettos and climb up the red-carpet steps barefoot in protest.

She told a reporter last year that the dress code is sexist: "Things have to change immediately. It has become really obvious that if [a man and I] were walking the red carpet together and someone stopped me and said, 'Excuse me, young lady, you're not wearing heels. You cannot come in.' Then [I'm going to say], 'Neither is my friend. Does he have to wear heels?' It can work both ways. It's just like you simply cannot ask me to do something that you are not asking him. I get the black-tie thing but you should be able to do either version—flats or heels."
